One of the most prominent figures in this regard is Robert Spencer, an anti-Islamic scholar known for his controversial work The Truth About Muhammad: Founder of the World’s Most Intolerant Religion, which has generated significant debate and been banned in certain countries. This paper aims to critically analyze Spencer's portrayal of the Prophet Muhammad and Islam, focusing on the framing techniques he employs to present a biased and distorted narrative. The study explores how Spencer's selective interpretation of Islamic texts and historical events constructs a negative image of the Prophet Muhammad, which aligns with broader Orientalist discourse. Additionally, this paper examines Spencer's role as an activist within the Counter Jihad movement and his influence on shaping Western public perceptions of Islam. The findings underscore the ideological motivations behind his work and the implications for interfaith understanding and global perceptions of Islam.
Rahmat Hidayat ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2025-06-23 2025-06-23 16 2 328 346 10.34005/alrisalah.v16i2.4809 PRESERVING THE PURITY OF REVELATION https://www.jurnal.uia.ac.id/alrisalah/article/view/4834
This article critically examines the intersection of hermeneutics and the authority of the Qur’an, specifically focusing on its implications for interpreting sacred texts. It explores whether the hermeneutic method, which emphasizes historical context, textual dynamics, and reader subjectivity, poses a challenge to the Qur’an’s divine authority or whether it contributes positively to the tafsir tradition. The study contrasts the perspectives of classical scholars, such as Al-Suyuti, who adhered to a revelation-based tafsir methodology, with the views of modern scholars like Nasr Hamid Abu Zayd, who introduced a more contextualized approach to Qur'anic interpretation. By delving into the dynamics of meaning within hermeneutics, this paper investigates the potential risks of distortion (tahrif) that arise when the text is reinterpreted beyond its traditional exegesis. Furthermore, the article examines the role of hermeneutics in shaping contemporary interpretations of the Qur'an in the Indonesian context, particularly regarding sensitive issues such as gender and legal rulings. This exploration sheds light on the ongoing debate between maintaining the purity of the Qur’an’s meaning and adapting its teachings to meet the demands of modernity. Through a balanced approach, the study aims to provide recommendations for integrating hermeneutics into the tafsir tradition while ensuring that the Qur'an’s divine essence is preserved. In doing so, it underscores the importance of preserving the sacred text’s authority while making its teachings relevant to contemporary Muslim societies.
Muhibudin Muhibudin Fahmi Islam Jiwanto Samsul Maarif ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2025-06-23 2025-06-23 16 2 347 367 10.34005/alrisalah.v16i2.4834 PODCASTING AS A MODERN DA’WAH TOOL FOR CONVEYING SIRAH NABAWIYAH https://www.jurnal.uia.ac.id/alrisalah/article/view/4457
The rapid advancement of digital media has revolutionized the methods of delivering Islamic teachings, particularly in the realm of da’wah. Podcasts, as a versatile and accessible digital medium, have become increasingly popular for disseminating religious knowledge. This research explores the development and utilization of podcasts as a means for conveying Sirah Nabawiyah (the biography of Prophet Muhammad) through the "Basyiroh Podcast" by the Indonesia Siroh Institute. The study employs a qualitative approach, focusing on content development, production challenges, and the effectiveness of podcasting as a da’wah tool. Through an analysis of the production process and audience engagement, the study highlights the integration of educational and entertaining elements in the podcast's format, making it accessible to diverse audiences, including housewives and the younger generation. Findings indicate that the podcast has successfully leveraged the YouTube platform to engage listeners with high-quality content, balancing the complexities of media production with the need for accurate Islamic teachings. Furthermore, this research emphasizes the challenges faced in maintaining content accuracy, technical production standards, and team coordination. The Basyiroh Podcast, by enhancing accessibility and interactivity, contributes significantly to modern da’wah practices. As political and social dynamics in Indonesia are increasingly shaped by Islamic values, particularly by PKS, this research explores how these values influence the social structure of family life and contribute to building a resilient society. Using a quantitative correlational approach, the study analyzes responses from 69 participants, mainly from the Women and Family Resilience Division of PKS Jawa Barat, through structured questionnaires. The results show significant positive relationships between the understanding of da’wah, PKS politics, and the SAMARA program with family resilience. These findings underscore the role of Islamic teachings and family-oriented political programs in fostering social stability and resilience. This research highlights the potential for integrated approaches combining political ideology and Islamic values to enhance the resilience of families in Indonesia, offering insights into the role of political parties in shaping societal wellbeing.
Rifqi Ivan Hadi Tama Muhammad Taufiq ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2025-07-16 2025-07-16 16 2 398 417 10.34005/alrisalah.v16i1.4210 METHODS OF DA'WAH IN QURAN AND HADITH: A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS ACROSS ERAS https://www.jurnal.uia.ac.id/alrisalah/article/view/4839
The methods of Da’wah (Islamic proselytization) have undergone significant transformations from the classical period to the present digital era. This study explores how the Quran and Hadith serve as foundational sources for Da’wah practices, highlighting the evolving interpretive frameworks that shape these methods across different periods in Indonesian Islam. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, this research delves into the roles and challenges that Quranic exegesis and Hadith interpretations have played in developing Da’wah methods. The study examines classical, modern, and digital-era Da’wah methods, analyzing their alignment with Islamic teachings, with particular emphasis on the differences in interpretive approaches by various scholars. The findings underscore the continued relevance of traditional methods such as verbal (bil lisan) Da’wah, practical (bil hal) Da’wah, and wisdom-based (bil hikmah) Da’wah, while also exploring the profound impact of social media and digital platforms on contemporary proselytization efforts. This research contributes to the literature on Islamic Da’wah methods in Indonesia, proposing that, despite the evolution of da’wah methods, the core principles of wisdom, good counsel, and exemplary behavior remain central to effective Da’wah. In an era of globalization and digitalization, preserving local culture and identity has become increasingly challenging, particularly among younger generations. This research examines how the Javanese Script Envelope media can serve as an educational tool that not only teaches language but also fosters cultural awareness, moral values, and spiritual growth. By applying epistemological principles, the media encourages active learning and critical thinking, allowing students to construct knowledge through engagement with cultural symbols. From an ontological perspective, the study highlights the significance of viewing the Javanese script as a living cultural symbol that connects students to their heritage. In terms of axiology, the media promotes values such as respect for culture, character development, and national pride. The integration of dakwah provides a moral and spiritual framework that aligns with Islamic teachings, guiding students toward personal responsibility and community engagement. This research demonstrates that educational media, when designed with philosophical foundations, can offer a holistic learning experience that connects knowledge, culture, and values.

Herni Retnowati Anas Ahmadi ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2025-06-30 2025-06-30 16 2 459 475 10.34005/alrisalah.v16i2.4687 AN APPRAISAL ON THE CONTRIBUTION OF MUSLIM WOMEN IN JUDICIARY IN NORTH-WEST NIGERIA https://www.jurnal.uia.ac.id/alrisalah/article/view/4666
This study examines the significant contributions of Muslim women in the judiciary of Northwest Nigeria, focusing on their roles, challenges, and impact on promoting gender equality and justice within the legal system. And marriage is said to be the fundamental principle or practice of the society. There has been persistent cry of increasing cases of divorce in Muslim marriages on daily basis by parents, Islamic scholars; social welfare workers, the judiciary and the Keffi Emirate Council, if you go to any of our Local Courts within Keffi Local Government Area, most of the cases you find are associated with marriage. Hundreds of marriages break-up within a shortest period of wedlock. This study examines the effect of rampant divorces in Muslim community of Keffi. One of the objectives of the study was to assess the immediate effect of divorce on the Couples, children and Society. This study adopted the narrative and analytical method of research; hence both primary and secondary sources of data collection are employed in the research. The findings of this study established that as a result of divorce, most families were no longer able to manage their children’s basic needs mostly education. Societal hills arose as a result of children that were not well catered for resulting into cases like juvenile delinquency, drug abuse, hooliganism, and harlotism respectively parents should not force their children into marriage, if they do not have the natural love for each other. Parents should know that marriage is not a part time relationship, so couples should be allowed to make their choice and understand themselves better.
Adam Ibrahim Ishaq Ibrahim Muhammad Ya'aqub ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2025-07-07 2025-07-07 16 2 498 511 10.34005/alrisalah.v16i2.4863 IMPLEMENTATION OF INTERPRETATION IN IMPROVING UNDERSTANDING IN CONTEXTUAL-BASED ISLAMIC RELIGIOUS EDUCATION LEARNING IN THE DIGITAL ERA https://www.jurnal.uia.ac.id/alrisalah/article/view/4840
This study explores the implementation of tafsir (Qur’anic interpretation) as a pedagogical strategy to enhance students’ understanding of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) through a contextual-based learning model in the digital era. The integration of thematic and contextual interpretation aims to bridge Qur’anic values with students’ real-life challenges, making religious learning more relevant and applicable. Employing a descriptive qualitative method, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation in a secondary Islamic school. The findings reveal that incorporating tafsir into PAI learning significantly improves students’ reasoning skills, contextual comprehension, and spiritual insight. Digital tools—such as interpretation apps, interactive videos, and online platforms—further enrich the learning experience. However, limitations persist, including low tafsir literacy among educators, insufficient contextual digital resources, and the need for professional development in integrating interpretation within the curriculum. This study concludes that the strategic application of contextual and technology-assisted tafsir holds considerable promise for enhancing the quality of Islamic education, provided it is supported by adequate resources and educator readiness.
Nahuda Nahuda ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2025-07-01 2025-07-01 16 2 512 526 10.34005/alrisalah.v16i2.4840 THE RELEVANCE OF THE WISDOM METHOD IN DA'WAH IN THE DIGITAL ERA https://www.jurnal.uia.ac.id/alrisalah/article/view/4548
This study examines the concept of hikmah (wisdom) as a key method of da’wah (Islamic preaching) in Islam. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach to reveal the profile of Nyai Zainiyah As’ad, the process of establishment and development of the Majelis Taklim As-Sholihat, as well as the construction of religious scholarly authority cultivated within that space. The research findings indicate that the agency of female ulama can be formed not only through resistance to religious and cultural norms but also through the strengthening of existing traditional values. Although Nyai Zainiyah’s struggle did not explicitly promote a feminist or gender equality agenda, her role demonstrated the capacity of women to lead and empower female communities through dakwah activities. This Majelis Taklim acted as more than merely a religious education forum; it functioned as a transformative public space that reinforced intellectual and spiritual capacities. However, issues can arise in practice when the designated guardian, particularly the father, refuses to fulfill his duty, a situation known as wali adhol. This article discusses the importance of the guardian's role in Islamic marriage, the legal and social problems caused by wali adhol, and the solutions provided by Indonesia's legal system, including the appointment of a judge guardian to replace a guardian who refuses or cannot be present. In this context, the Compilation of Islamic Law (KHI) and Minister of Religious Affairs Regulation No. 22 of 2024 provide the legal basis for the religious court to appoint a judge guardian in wali adhol cases. The article also explores the differing views among Islamic schools of thought on wali adhol and how Indonesia's religious courts play a key role in ensuring the validity of the marriage despite challenges posed by the guardian. This study concludes that while wali adhol presents challenges, Indonesia's legal system offers clear mechanisms to address this issue, ensuring fairness and the successful implementation of lawful marriages in accordance with Islamic principles.
Ade Salamah ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2025-08-09 2025-08-09 16 2 599 611 10.34005/alrisalah.v16i2.5072 The Role of the Prophetic Sunnah in Promoting Inclusivity within Contemporary Educational Settings https://www.jurnal.uia.ac.id/alrisalah/article/view/5114
The Sunnah of the Prophets is extremely important in fostering awareness in Indonesia's contemporary educational environment.
